On May 15, 2009, in Los Angeles, Si Frumkin passed away. The Gratitude Fund lost a
great friend and we all lost a great person. Our condolences to all his family.
Si Frumkin was born in Lithuania, in 1930. A Holocaust survivor, he spent the war in a
number of concentration camps and was liberated from Dachau by  the U.S. Army in 1945,
        at the age of 14.
Frumkin, who was fluent in Russian, kept in close contact with Jewish activists in the USSR
(now Russia) and in the USA and Israel. Among his many contributions was his involvement with
legislation and campaigns aiming to bring restitution to Holocaust survivors worldwide.
